  1. Just returning from a family holiday

Just returning from a family holiday in the south of France.
My mother-in-law and several members of our party are very interested in the Impressionist movement and I wanted to arrange a private tour specific to the life of Van Gogh in Arles.
I booked a well reviewed tour online via Provence Tours.

Much to our joy, it exceeded all expectations. We met our guide, Romain, at the Arles train station for our four hour tour this July.
It was an absolute pleasure to spend the afternoon with him. He took us through the city on foot and shared a wealth of details on Van Gogh’s life both before and after his time in Arles.

He was keenly aware of some of the mobility issues of our group and was kind to take frequent breaks, even joining us for a beverage at one of the many charming cafés in town.
Romain has a deep passion for art, Van Gogh specifically. I thought it was charming he named his young son after Vincent’s brother, Theo. I happen to have a degree in art history and he surprised me with several details about Vincent’s career and the greater context of the era.

I can’t say enough about this experience and would recommend it highly to anyone with a deep or even passing interest in Impressionism.
